How a Coffee’s Grind Affects Brewing
Gevalia comes in a fine grind, which helps give the coffee its full-bodied taste. Up to a point, the finer you grind the coffee, the more surface area is exposed to the hot water, providing a higher level of extracted coffee flavor. In other words, a fine grind offers more body and flavor in a cup of coffee.

Troubleshooting Filters
If you’re having difficulty with water backing up or grounds overflowing the filter, make sure the paper filter is porous enough to allow the brewed coffee through and is the correct size. The correct filter sizes are:

  • Airpot/Decanter Brewer (0.5 gal.) 10 5/8" x 4 1/2" (Rockline 50-102P537) or equivalent.
  • Shuttle/Thermal Brewer (1.5 gal.) 14" x 6" (Rockline 51-1462C) or equivalent.

Serving Equipment
Ideally, you should brew directly into an airpot or thermal container. Generally an airpot or thermal server can keep coffee hot for up to 90 minutes. If you warm your coffee on a burner, the flavor and aroma will begin to deteriorate after 30 minutes.
