Sensible Snacking
Look for products carrying the Sensible Snacking flag to help you offer balanced choices that are part of a healthy lifestyle.
Products can qualify in one of two ways (per serving):
- Contain no more than 100 calories
- Contain no more than 30% calories from fat and no more than 10% calories from saturated fat plus trans fat
- Contain no more than 290 mg of sodium
- Contain no more than 25% calories from added sugar
- Contain 10% or more of the Daily Value (DV) of: vitamin A, C, E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, protein or fiber
- Contain at least one half serving of a fruit or vegetable
- Contain a nutritionally significant amount of whole grain
- Have a functional nutritional benefit
OR
- Must be free of or low in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar or sodium, or must have at least 25% of one of these in comparison to the base product or an appropriate reference product, and must be reviewed by the nutrition department. |
